In the most recent games, there are 18 types of Pokemons. Usually, each Pokemon has an affinity for one or two different types. Which makes it weak or strong against the right opponent, so you must understand when to use it. You may have noticed that in the table, some interactions are straightforward to understand. For example, water is super effective against fire.
But we often forget or, worse, we don’t even know about some less intuitive interactions. For instance, ice types are weak to steel attacks, for some reason, and bug attacks are super effective against psychic types. Similarly, ground attacks are strong against poison types.
Another fact that many trainers do not know is that there are strong types against themselves. For example, dragon type and ghost type are two types of Pokemon that are super effective against others of the same type.
