What is Zro
‘An extremely rare aerosol of exotic particles. It has been deposited on a number of worlds through meteor impacts, but its true origin is a mystery. If ingested by psionically-gifted individuals, zro acts as a very potent (and addictive) drug that enhances PSI abilities.‘
Zro is a resource clearly inspired by Dune’s Melange. It is used to sharpen the population’s psionic abilities.
How to extract Zro
To extract Zro you need ‘Psionic Theory’ and ‘Zro Distillation’ technologies.
To acquire tecnologies to extract Zro your empire can’t be a Gestalt Consciousness and Materialist. To improve your chances of finding theses techs just obtain a population that has a psionic affinity and set them as researchers of your empire.

Zro will be needed to do some research on Psionic and for the development of Psionic Shields.
These extremely powerful shields are generated out of pure psychic energy by a cadre of psionic specialists. Their powers are further augmented by large arrays of psi emitters.
However, this technology requires you to have the Utopia DLC.
It’s also used in the Psi Jump Drives technology that increases the size of your JumpDrive by 50%.
